Glorious color lithograph, measuring 15.5 x 20”, mounted in magnificent period gilt frame, with wooden backing & hang-wire. Overall dimensions, 25.5 x 29.5”. Un-titled piece by unknown artist, executed in classic turn-of-the-century Currier & Ives style. Depicts young mustachioed recruit in full uniform, including trapdoor rifle & blanket roll, bidding farewell to his daughter in the family parlor, while his wife weeps in a nearby chair. Captures perfectly the mood on the Spanish-American War homefront. Lithograph & frame in near mint condition, with minor scratching at frame corners. Extremely handsome, excellent collectible.
