This 1864 dated chromolithograph of President Lincoln comes housed in the original period oval frame both of which are in very nice condition.
The frame meas. approx. 18.00 x 21.00 inches with a beaded inner border and a raised edge decorated with a raised floral design at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions. The frame is painted gold and is free from chipping.
The chromolithograph itself has a canvas backing that is marked “WARRANTED WATER COLORS/ ENTERED ACCORDING TO ACT OF CONGRESS IN THE YEAR 1864 BY E. C. MIDDLETON…” There is a small piece of canvas the size of a quarter missing off the back but this cannot be seen from the front.
The image of Mr. Lincoln is bright and clear and perfect in condition. Often these lithographs are found water stained or chipped but this one is clean and one of the best we have seen.
