This beautiful, original Currier & Ives print features an African-American slave showing a returning Confederate soldier the new grave of the soldier’s father in the family cemetery plot. The grave has three mourning wreaths laid on top, as well as a cross with a paper nailed to it. Beautiful landscaping surrounds the figures.

Print is marked, “PUBLISHED BY CURRIER & IVES, 125 NASSAU ST. NEW YORK”. Print has lightly yellowed with age and edges have some signs of possible water spots.

Frame measures 12 ¼” x 15”. It is a distressed black color and is solid.   [sm]
