The scenes presented in this two-piece set of oversize, colorful lithographs depict a romanticized version of the Federal soldier early in the war. Both of these lithographs are in very good original condition with each piece measuring 27" high x 14½" wide. Produced by an unknown firm, each image is void of a maker's mark and rests on a piece of foam board enclosed in a clear plastic covering for protection. One image shows two uniformed soldiers, a young drummer boy marching astride a fifer. Both soldiers are in the forefront of marching infantry with the US Stars and Stripes waving above them.
The second litho depicts an infantryman in a charge on the enemy holding his musket fixed with a bayonet. In the background are more Union infantry in the charge following a raised American flag. These paper specimens show just scattered slight foxing and light surface staining. Very mild edge fraying can be seen on the lower edges of each lithograph. A professional paper conservator can readily remedy these conditions. Two fine lithographs of Civil War Americana at a reasonable price.
