This is a modern print reproduction of a well known painting called the “Porthole Portrait”, by Rembrandt Peale (February 22, 1778 – October 3, 1860) is one of the best likenesses of the “Father of our Country”, George Washington.
In 1795, when he was seventeen, Rembrandt Peale painted a portrait of Washington from life in the presence of his father, artist Charles Wilson Peale. During the remainder of his career, Rembrandt demonstrated a near obsession with Washington and replicated this famous portrait seventy-nine times.
Frame is made of a medium stained wood with gilt accents. Measures 19 ¼” x 22 ¼” and is in excellent condition. Has brass plate that reads, “GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON”. [sl]
Extra shipping required - $35 insured UPS east of the Mississippi, $50 west of the Mississippi (pick up of the print at the shop is preferable. PA sales tax would be $5.70).
