Hand-colored, early print shows soldiers in camp with tents set up under trees. Print has yellowed with age, has light surface dirt and spots in areas. Hand inscription at the bottom reads, “PRESENTED BY YOUR FRIEND CORPL. A.W. PARSONS, AS A TOKEN OF GRATEFUL REGARDS”. Image is surrounded by a gold gilt band.
Gold frame measures 10” x 14”. Shows scattered nicks and scratches. Wire is mounted on reverse for hanging.
Albert W. Parsons enlisted at the age of 21 on 7/26/62 at Camden, NY to serve for a term of 3 years service. Mustered in as Corporal, Co. B, 8/9/62. Promoted Sergeant 9/1/64; returned to ranks, 3/1/65. Mustered out 8/2/65 at Elmira, NY. Parsons died in Cleveland, OH on 9/28/1908 and is buried there in Riverside Cemetery. [sl/ld]
