NICELY FRAMED 1887 COLOR PRINT OF CONFEDERATE BATTLE FLAGS

$65.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1030-388

This is a professionally framed color plate of Confederate battle flags removed from a copy of Mary Livermore’s “My Story,” an account of her experiences as a Civil War nurse published in 1887. In addition to an unattributed silk battle flag, and one captured simply “from General Bragg,” the plate illustrates flags from the 42nd Mississippi, 12th Mississippi Cavalry, a flag of Austin’s Battery (which might refer to either an Arkansas or Texas battery,) a flag from a South Carolina regiment, a black flag supposedly from a Texas regiment (which might have been dark blue,) and at center the blood-stained silk flag of the 9th Texas. The gilt frame measures 8 ¾ by 12 inches. The mat opening is about 5 by 8 ½ inches. It is ready to go on an office, library, or collection room wall.  [sr]
