This rare broadside poster from the New Jersey Blood Stock Association measures 27 inches by 20 inches. It advertises horses for sale. It has significant tears, folds and wrinkles. The header of the sign reads:

"NEW JERSEY BLOOD STOCK ASSOCIATION / TRIALS OF SPEED, / For the improvement of the Breed of Horses in Middlesex and Monmouth Counties, New Jersey, at JAMESBURG JUNCTION, CAMDEN AND AMBOY RAILROAD."

The text below the break reads

 

"Tuesday, Oct. 1st, 1861. / Jamesburg, Handicap--Two miles; $100 entrance, half forfeit, $25 if declared by Sept. 15th; closed as follows:

F. MORRIS names gr. g. THROG'S NECK, By Cracker, out of Sally Ward.

Also, b. h. Prophet, by Imp. Monarch, out of Cassandra.

P.C. Bush names b. h. TROVATORE, by Imp. Monarch, out of Madonna.

The above trials will be made on the day specified, commencing at 1 o'clock, each day, on the track near the Jamesburg Junction, Camden and Amboy Railroad. / Competent Judges will be chosen each day by the Association to award the Premiums to the best Horses.

Persons can leave New York or Philadelphia at 6 A.M., and return at 4 P.M. each day, fare 50 cents.

Excellent accomodation can be obtained at the Junction Hotel, kept by Mr. RICHARD FLEMING.
