CARTOON LAMPOONING PRESIDENT GRANT

$265.00

Quantity Available: 1

Item Code: 565-98

U.S. Grant was best known as the general that helped the North win the Civil War. His subsequent presidency was a different story. His administration was marred by rumors of corruption and the Panic of 1873 put the nation into a depression that the great general was helpless to reverse.

This cartoon shows Grant upon a cart pulled by a lame horse. He is being addressed by a man with a list of issues, but responds “Don’t talk so much, wait ‘til I finish the cigar.”

Original illustration measures 11” x 18” and is nicely matted and framed to an overall size of 18” x 23”.  [jet]
