The top horizontal fold has separated approx. halfway across the document. Discharge is dated “NEAR WASHINGTON, 7 JUNE 1865.” With this is a pension document from 1914 updated to 1919 showing a pension of $30 a month.

The next item in the group is an 8.25 x 12.25 inch riker box that contains six more items belonging to Hilliker.

Image is clear with good contrast and comes housed in a gem sized Union case with an interior liner of purple crushed velvet and an exterior geometric decoration. Case is in matching nice condition.

Next is a small bronze lapel button that bears the GAR Coat of Arms.

There is also a red, white and blue reunion ribbon with a stamped brass frame at top that holds a card with “ADELBERT HILLIKER/147TH REG.” written on it in period ink. The ribbon is in very nice condition with gold lettering that reads “EIGHTH ANNUAL RE-UNION CIVIL WAR VETERANS OF OSWEGO COUNTY, THURSDAY, SEPT. 24, 1931 OSWEGO, N.Y.”

The ribbon has a printed bar at top that reads “HONOR THE NOBLE DEAD.” Below this is a intertwined GAR in silver ink. Next are crossed cloth US flags sewn to the ribbon to look like they are waving in the breeze. Each flag has a printed silver ink pole. At center of the ribbon is a large celluloid circle outlined in stamped brass. The monument is pictured within a wreath and flanked by the dates “1863-1893.”

The last item is a poor condition Women’s Relief Corps medal. The top bar and cross is present but the red, white and blue ribbon has shredded.

Adelbert Hilliker was 18 years old when he enlisted as a Private in Company E, 147th New York Infantry at Sandy Creek, New York on August 21, 1862. As far as is known he was present with the regiment until his muster out on June 7, 1865 at Washington, D.C.
