8pp., 6 columns, measuring 22.5” in length, 15.5” in width. Exhibits slight yellowing at margins, light chipping at corners. Else clean, VG, and entirely legible.

The front page features a large centered map of “THE CITY OF ATLANTA”, showing “The Defensive Works of the Rebel Army at Atlanta and the Position of Sherman’s Lines on July 27. Contain coverage of developments following the Battle of Atlanta [July 22., 1864], which saw Gen. Hood’s Confederate army driven from its northern outskirts  into the City. More fighting would occur before Atlanta fell on September 2, 1864. Also includes news of the July 30th Crater explosion on Grant’s Petersburg front.

Fine newspaper collectible for Atlanta campaign buffs.
