Cover features magnificent full page depiction of the “Gallant Exploit of Captain Strong, of the Second Wisconsin Volunteers.” Accompanied by story of Captain William E. Strong, Co. “F” [Belle Rifles], 2nd Wisconsin Vols., escaping capture by 6 Confederate cavalrymen by shooting three of them near Washington’s “Chain Bridge.” Also centerfold illustration of Rebels on the James River Canal, and crossing the Manassas Gap Railroad, as well as a story and illustration of Rebel General Albert Sidney Johnston, recent appointed to overall Confederate command in the West. Condition near fine, with dot mount marks on left margin and small, slight smudge on lower right corner. Excellent display piece. In protective sleeve, w/white card backing.

VERY SCARCE 1799-1800 SWAN CONTRACT VIRGINIA MILITIA REGIMENTALLY MARKED MUSKET: 42nd REGIMENT, PITTSYLVANIA
