Front cover features double illustration: “The City of Cincinnati [from the Kentucky side]”, “Volunteers Crossing the Ohio to Covington On a Pontoon Bridge.” Editorial pages contain commentary on “The Rebel Raid into Maryland”, beginning as follows: “At the hour we write it is uncertain whether the Rebel army is being absolutely extinguished, or whether it is recuperating from the defeat it suffered at the hands of General McClellan on the 14th of September.” Interior contains numerous full page illustrations of the Rebel invasion: “Frederick City, Maryland, While Occupied by the Rebels”, “Hagerstown, Maryland, While Occupied By the Rebels”, “The First Virginia (Rebel) Cavalry At A Halt”, “The Rebel Army Crossing The Fords of the Potomac For the Invasion of Maryland”, plus story. Also an intriguing double-page centerfold: “A Rebel Guerrilla Raid In A Western Town”, with story. Plus four rear page cartoons: “A pictorial Commentary Upon Gen. Lee’s Proclamation To the People of Maryland, ‘Marylanders shall once more enjoy their ancient Freedom of Thought and Speech’ “. In all, a splendid “Rebel Invasion” issue for Antietam buffs.

Exhibits mounting dots on left margin, else fine. Superb issue for Antietam collectors. In protective sleeve, w/white card backing.
