Vol. V.—No. 229. 16 pp. [305-320], four columns, with numerous stories, illustrations and cartoons. Front cover features illustrations [1] “The “Lady Davis,” Two Guns, Ship of War of the Southern Confederacy”, [2] “Rhode Island Artillery Landing From the Steamer “Bienville” at Washington Arsenal, on April 25.” Interior contains stories and illustrations of “Colonel Ellsworth’s New York’s Fire Zouaves” and “Colonel Wilson and His Staff [Wilson’s Fighting Brigade]”. This latter group was formed of New York “Roughs” and “B’hoy’s” pledged to fight to the death in when passing through secessionist Baltimore in route to the capitol. Also an illustration of “The Battery or Park Promenade at Charleston, South Carolina, During the Bombardment of Fort Sumter.”

Exhibits tiny mounting dots on left margin, w/slight smudging of lower right corner. Else VG to fine, smooth and unwrinkled. Solid early-war issue. Excellent collectible.
