The front cover features a full page illustration of “The Army Forge” in camp, story of army blacksmiths on following page. Interior illustrations include a double page center-fold spread of General McClellan and Horse. {In the wake of his campaign successes in West Virginia, “Little Mac” had been promoted commander of the Army of the Potomac, and was soon to be promoted to General in Chief of all Union Armies. Also an intriguing full page montage illustration of “Manufacturing Muskets/ U.S. Armory/ Springfield, Massachusetts.” Two superb rear cover cartoons.

Exhibits tiny mounting dots and slight chipping along left margins, w/slight soling of lower right corner. Else VG plus, smooth and solid. Great specimen, early-war Harper’s Weekly. In protective sleeve, w/white card backing.
