Second page editorial announces “The Good News” of Union Victories at Gettysburg and Vicksburg. Interior illustrations include two more of the assaults on Port Hudson, as well as a story and portrait sketch of “The Late Gen. Reynolds [killed at Gettysburg]. Also a strikingly desolate center-fold depicting “The Results of War—Virginia 1863.” As well as a full page montage, titled: “The Invasion of the North—Street Scenes in Philadelphia.” Not forgetting, “The Army of the Potomac—Skirmish at Upperville, VA, June 21, 1863,” and “Invasion of the North—Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.” Plus a hilarious cartoon of “Jeff Davis’s Face, as seen through the South Mountain Gap, Fourth of July, 1863.”
Exhibits mounting dots and chipping along the left margin. Else near fine, with smooth cover. This “Good News” Harper’s Weekly issue of July ‘63 is one sweet collectible. In protective sleeve, w/white card backing.
