Front cover features an illustration of “The War in the Southwest—Adjutant –General Lorenzo Thomas Addressing the Negroes in Louisiana on the Duties of Freedom.” Interior illustrations include a striking full page depiction of “Lookout Mountain”, as well as a sketch of “Buckland, Scene of a Cavalry Skirmish with Stuart [often called “The Buckland Races”]. Also a stories and portraits of Gen. William Lytle, [killed at the Battle of Chickamauga], and the Reverend Henry Ward Beecher, in the wake of his earlier English speaking tour.
Exhibits tiny mounting dots & light chipping along left margin. Else fine, smooth and attractive. Solid collectible.
