The editors also announce an offer to pay officers of the Army and Navy handsomely for any well drawn sketches of southern forts or “Scenes of Interest”. Interior illustrations include a montage of “Commander Dahlgren, U.S.N., and the Dahlgren Gun [from photographs]”, and a full page illustrations of “The Washington Navy Yard, With Shad Fisheries in the Foreground.” Also a magnificent centerfold of “The U.S. Fleet off Ft. Pickens, Florida” [with story page 246.]. Plus, serialized chapter XXXIII of “Great Expectations. A Novel. By Charles Dickens.”
All pages are separated, and appear to have been trimmed along their edges. Old linen tape repair on left edge of one page. Else near fine. Excellent collectible. In protective sleeve w/white card backing.
