Vol. VII—No. 319. 16 pp. [81-96], with numerous stories, illustrations and cartoons. Front cover features portraits of Rear-Admiral David Porter and Major General John McClernand. The former officer was commander of the Mississippi River Flotilla, and the latter the commander of 13th Corps troops involved in the bombardment and attack of Arkansas Post, January 11, 1863. Additional illustrations include sketches of three Western Iron-clad Gun-boat rams—the “Indianola”,  “Choctaw”, and “Lafayette”. Also a satirically sardonic centerfold montage depicting gruesome instances of “Southern Chivalry” toward Union troops—“The Murder of Two of Piatt’s Zouaves, 34th Ohio”, “Throwing Sick and Wounded U.S. Soldiers in the Road To Die”, “Massacre of Negroes At Murfreesboro Pike”, “The Murder of Gen. Robert L. McCook”, “Southern Women Gloating Over Union Dead”, “Yankee Bones & Finger Rings.” Dedicated to Jeff Davis.

Exhibits mounting dots and light chipping along left margin. Plus a few minuscule cover dots. Else VG plus, w/smooth cover. Solid collectible. In protective sleeve, w/ white card backing.  [jp]
