Springfield, Mass, Dec. 20-23, Numbers 1-4. 8 pp., 9.5 x 12.75”. Plus The Springfield Musket, Dec. 20, 1889. The Junior Edition. No. 3. 12 pp, 11 x14, with same masthead. This patriotic periodical carries a number of Civil War veteran related articles. It was edited by W. P. Derby, with the following notice: “The Musket, Junior, will be on sale or can be ordered through any of the news stands in the City 25 cents for the six copies, and a facsimile of a copy of The Musket published in 1864, or at 5 cents a single copy. Subscriptions may be given to members of the Grand Army, Sons of Veteran, or Women’s Relief Corps.”
The 1864 edition exhibits faint horizontal fold-mark; 1889 “Junior” display slight to negligible chipping along lower margin. Exhibits very slight chipping along lower cover margin. Both editions are VG plus to Fine. Solid pieces of patriotic, Springfield, Mass. Musket memorabilia. In protective sleeve, w/white card backing. [JP]
