Front cover features story and portrait sketches of 5th and 6th Corps commanders, Generals Gouverneur K. Warren and Horatio Gates Wright. Interior illustrations include a panoramic double page center-fold of fighting at the Mule Shoe salient at Spotsylvania Court House. Other Spotsylvania sketches—“Spottsylvania Court House”—“Batteries On General Warren’s Left, Near Spottsylvania, VA”—“Crossing the River NY, Virginia. Also two Atlanta Campaign illustrations—“General Logan’s Skirmishers Advancing Toward the Railroad at Resaca, May13, 1864”—Position of Osterhauss’s Division, Logan’s Corps, On Bald Hill, May 14, 1864—Shelling the Railroad At Resaca.”

Exhibits mounting dots and light chipping along left cover margin, w/three miniscule cover stains. Interior center-fold illustration split along the seam. Else VG, with smooth cover. Magnificent issue with joint coverage of the Overland and Atlanta Campaigns. [June 1864 was a busy month.] In protective sleeve, w/ white card backing.    [JP]
