Front cover features dramatic full page illustration of “The Escaped Refugees From the Libby Prison”, followed by a story of the famous February 9th prison break that saw 109 union prisoners escape from Richmond’s notorious Libby prison via a tunnel. Interior illustrations include a panoramic sketch of a “Reconnoissance at Morton’s Ford—Night Scene.” Also a center page spread on depiction the Brooklyn U.S. Sanitary Commission.

Exhibits mounting dots and light chipping along left cover margin; rear cover detached. Else VG, w/smooth cover. Solid collectible. In protective sleeve, w/white card backing. [jp]
