Vol. VI-NO. 306. 16 pp [705-720], four columns, with numerous stories, illustrations and cartoons. Front cover features a handsome full page portrait illustration of “General William S. Rosecrans, Commander of the Army of the Ohio”, hero of the Battle of Corinth, MS, Oct. 3-4th, 1862. Interior illustrations include one of Mary Lincoln, along with a sketch of her background, which points out the divided allegiances among her Kentucky, which have given rise to some suspicion and gossip concerning her own ultimate allegiances. Plus sketches of “John W. Packham [1st Ohio Zouaves], the youngest Corporal in the Union Army”, and the “Reception of the Ninth Indiana Volunteers at Danville, Kentucky, After driving out the Rebels.” Also a dramatic centerfold depicting “Negroes Being Driven South By the Rebel Officers.” As well as a story treatment and sketch of “Union Jack, the Pet [dog] of the Richmond Prisoners.”
Exhibits mounting dots and light chipping along left cover margin, w/inward tear on upper right margin. Also a horizontal interior tear across one interior page. Else VG, with smooth flat cover. Solid issue with many striking stories and illustrations. In protective sleeve, w/white card backing. [jp]
