Ben Butler, the Massachusetts politician who led the 8th Massachusetts regiment to occupy Annapolis and then Baltimore in May 1861, winning for himself a Major General’s commission, though his reputation was later to fray considerably in New Orleans. Also a magnificent full page, group portrait of Jefferson Davis’s  first Confederate cabinet. Exhibits slight yellowing. Else VG plus, in protective sleeve with white card backing.  [jp]
