Front cover features a review of “The Military Situation”, beginning by mentioning Jeb Stuart’s audacious cavalry raid into Pennsylvania following the Battle of Antietam—accompanied by a illustration depicting “Indian Outrages In the North-West_-An American Family Murdered By the Sioux Indians, In A Grove Near New Ulm, Minnesota.” Interior illustrations include two pages of scenes from the Battle of Antietam: [1] “”Killing’s Cave, On The Banks of the Potomac, Near Sharpsburg, The Place of Refuge Of Many Citizens During the Battle of Antietam”; [2] Rebel Cavalry Driving Stragglers and Skulkers Back to Their Duty At the Battle…”; [3] “Women and Children of Sharpsburg Taking Refuge In The Cellar4 of The Kretzer Mansion In That Town, During the Battle…Bursting Of A Shell In The Window of the Cellar.”

Exhibits mounting dots along left cover margin, along with two inner pages torn but intact. Else VG, w/ smooth cover. Fascinating issue, w/superb. Illustrations.
