Front cover lead story features “The Battle of New Berne”, accompanied by a lower illustration of “War on The Mississippi River—Siege of Island No. 10—Night Bombardment By The National Mortar Boats, 10 P.M., March 18, 1862.” Interior illustrations include more Mississippi River scenes: [1] “National Gunboat and Mortar-Boat Attack On Island “No. 10,” Between Columbus and New Madrid; Bombardment On Sunday, March 16, View Looking Down River”; [2] “Bombardment of Island No. 10, and the Fortifications Opposite, On the Kentucky Shore…March 17.” Plus depictions from “The War In North Carolina” and “The Advance of the Army of the Potomac”, featuring [1] The “Gallant and Successful Bayonet Charge of the 9th New Jersey Regiment on The Rebel Fortifications, Near Newberne, March 14”, and [2] The “Occupation of Winchester, VA, And the Abandoned Rebel Fortification, By a Detachment of Gen. Bank’s Division, Consisting of the Brigades of Gen. Hamilton and Williams, March 12.”

Exhibits mounting dots and chipping along the left cover margin, along with a few minor interior tears. Else VG, w/smooth cover. Solid issue, with a wealth of military illustrations.
