Vol. II.—No. 315. 16 pp., [17-32], 4 column, numerous illustrations. Front cover features illustration of “Rebel Negro Pickets As Seen Through A Field-glass.” Along with explanatory editorial note: “So much has been said about the wickedness of using the negroes on our side in the present war, that we have thought it worthwhile to reproduce on this page a sketch sent us from Fredericksburg by our artist, Theodore R. Davis, as a faithful representation of what was seen by one of our officers through field-glass, while on outpost duty at that place…..Let us hope that the President will not be deterred by any squeamish scruples of the kind from garrisoning  the Southern foots with fighting men of any color that can be obtained.”

Fredericksburg is also given a front page new story, and a huge double page centerfold illustration—“Gallant Charge of Humphrey’s Division at the Battle of Fredericksburg.” [sketched by eminent Harper’s Weekly staff artist—A.R. Waud.” Also illustrations of the Federal occupation of Holly Springs, Mississippi.  Condition good, with chipping along all edges; some scattered soiling also.
