Front cover features portrait of “John Burns, The Only Man in Gettysburg, PA, Who Fought At the Battle”, made from the famous Brady photo; accompanied by sketch of the “Residence of John Burns, At Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.” Also a poem, “The Stolen Stars”, by Union General Lew Wallace. Interior illustrations include a striking double-page montage of various Gettysburg scenes, and portrait sketches of Gettysburg cavalry commanders, such as John Buford and Judson Kilpatrick. Stunning rear cover of Gettysburg wounded, amputee Confederates mocking Jefferson Davis.

In overall fine condition. Front and back pages are separated. Minor edge chipping, some light age yellowing. Three minor tears inward from right edge of front page. A nice Gettysburg collectible. In protective sleeve.  [ld]
