Small slip of paper that meas. approx. 3.50 x 1.75 inches with a bold ink signature at center which reads “GEO. CLINTON” with decorative lines beneath the signature. Some of the paper is missing along the left edge but this does not affect the signature. Still attached to the paper is a piece of light blue silk that once held a seal of some kind.
George Clinton was born July 26, 1739. He was an American soldier and statesman and considered a Founding Father of the United States. He served as Governor of New York from 1777 to 1795 and again from 1801-1804. He was the fourth Vice-President of the United States under Jefferson and Madison.

This musket is stamped “42. VA. REGT. PITTSYLVANIA” on the barrel, was later altered to percussion and then shortened for use in the civilian market. It is a scarce survivor from muskets delivered to Virginia by Jame Swan of Boston in January… (1000-241). Learn More »
