Pre-printed 1869 promissory note for $1000 filled out in ink and signed by George Custar. Fooled me too when I first looked at it. With a quick look the “ar” looks like “er.” Thought for sure it was “The Boy General” of Little Big Horn fame but it is not.
Document was made out in Titusville, PA and was printed by the Erie Observer. Nice patriotic eagle at lower left and 50 cent tax stamp.
Item meas. approx. 9.75 x 4.25 inches. Has one horizontal and one vertical fold line. Top of latter has small separation. [ld]
