This particular example of the P-53 bayonet, caliber .58 was produced for the American market. Has a full 17 ½” blade (without makers or inspector’s markings); the overall surface condition shows a medium- darkened patina with some scattered pitting the full length of the blade.
The scabbard associated with the bayonet is of British government origin, having the War Department and broad arrow ordnance mark. Also, located near the brass tough and stamped into the leather is what looks to be an inspector’s mark of the letters “AR” surrounded by oval enclosure. Leather body of the scabbard is in excellent condition and seam stitching is firm and tight.
