From the collection of Al Turner. Blade markings [obverse/reverse]: “Arrow/wd”—“crown/35/w”, cross, “Wilkinson/ London”; “V[ictoria] R/ Crown/ 35/w/ 1 94”. Medium gray, furrowed, spear-pointed blade with saw tooth upper edge. Measuring 25.75” in length, 1.25” at base. Ding free, the blade Exhibits light film of condensation spotting. Knuckle- guarded steel handle with gutta percha checker-ribbed grip. Also exhibits light condensation spotting. Riveted grip slightly worn. Release button functional.

Scabbard leather - black, with stitched seam - is modern replacement. Frogged throat and tip are original. Else VG.

Overall, a scarce and unique bayonet, which was current in the British Army at the time of the 1878-81 Afghan and 1st Boer War.
