The blade is semi-bright with light mottling and scattered very light surface pitting. The blade meas. approx. 9.75 inches long with a wide central fuller running approx. 16.00 inches beginning at the ricasso and running toward the point. The edge of the blade is in good condition with numerous small nicks that can be felt rather than seen. The ricasso is blank except for one side being stamped “70.”
The hilt is cast brass with a ribbed handle and a “bird-head” pommel. The cross-guard has the socket for passing over the barrel of the weapon and the top of the handle has the channel for attaching to a bayonet stud. Locking mechanism works.
