An original angular socket bayonet made for the US Flintlock Musket, Model 1816 longarm. Bayonet wears a dark mottled gray color with moderate rust pitting and oxidation overall. The triangular blade exhibits a spear shape and has the mortise opening in the socket; no locking ring. Specimen is 19” long overall with a 3” long socket and a .828” bore diameter. The bayonet’s flat shank is stamped “U.S.” / “_C”. No edge nicks.
