Leather scabbard is in near perfect condition. The black leather body shows only light wear and no weak spots or chips to the finish. Brass finial is firmly attached and free of dents with a light patina. Scabbard frog is of brown buff leather and is of the 8 rivet variety. One side of the frog has a faint sub-inspector’s stamp.
The Model 1855 bayonet itself is bright, clean and free of mottling. Locking ring is perfect. Thin sharp “US” stamped on blade flat.
Set appears to be unissued. [AD]
