This is the Model 1855 socket bayonet for Springfield rifle muskets. Measures 17 ½” overall. This specimen features a dark plum/gray color overall with scattered areas of surface rust and pitting over the blade and socket. Complete with locking ring and screw. “US” stamped on blade flat. [jet]
