This is very similar to the Remington Zouave bayonet except for the longer blade. These were produced for the Model 1841 rifles being altered and re-rifled in .58 caliber.
The blade is approximately 25 ½ inches in length and marked “1861” on the ricasso. Fuller is nearly 16” long. Blade is clean and bright. There are three very small nicks on the blade (so small I hesitate to call attention to them). The hilt is cast brass. The patina is a nice untouched orange-yellow. Marked in the flat of the handle is a letter “G” and a production number “3656”. The cross guard, ribbed grip, and locking spring in the handle are all in excellent condition. [jet]
