Iron socket bayonet of the 1795 pattern that appears to have been dug.
The iron surfaces are dark and lightly pitted. There is a hairline crack on the underside where the blade meets the knuckle. Surface also has light pitting throughout and scattered surface rust.
Flat of the blade is marked in white ink “AMERICAN COPY / WEYBRIDE, VT. / CROWN PT. N.Y.” Then off to one side is the name “VIC.”
Triangular blade meas. approx. 15.50 inches long with an approx. 2.50 inch mortised socket. [ad]
