Nice condition Model 1855 socket bayonet.
Blade and socket have been cleaned.
The right side of the socket is stamped with the letter “M” over the number “168.”
Flat of the blade has a five-pointed star or asterisk stamped between the “U” and the “S.” This marking shows that the blade was produced by Amoskeag which also manufactured muskets for the Government during the Civil War. [ad]
