This is the Model 1855 socket bayonet for Springfield rifle muskets.  Measures approximately 21” overall.  This specimen is clean and mostly bright overall with scattered patches of darker “spotting”. Complete with locking ring and screw.  Large “US” clearly stamped on blade flat. A very nice Civil War bayonet.   [jet]
