This is the Model 1855 socket bayonet for Springfield rifle muskets. Measures approximately 21” overall. This specimen is clean and bright overall. Complete with locking ring and screw. Large “U.S” clearly stamped on blade flat. A very nice Civil War bayonet.
Accompanied by its original black bridle leather scabbard. The leather body is in excellent condition with a good tight seam running up the back with minor finish loss on raised edges. Brass scabbard tip was attached with four tacks (one missing). Arched leather frog is in good condition. The frog has seven rivets and is attached to the scabbard by stitching and an additional rivet. All leather is in very good condition. Frog is clearly stamped with a “T.C.
