Iron, triangular, socket bayonet. Overall length of the item is 17 ½”. Socket measures approximately 3 ¼” long while the blade measures about 13 ½” long. Socket has a reinforced collar on the edge and a cut mortise for the bayonet lug. The blade is wide at its base and then tapers quickly toward the point. Bayonet has a dark patina overall and light scattered surface pitting. The blade is stamped “G.S” on the top flat. Well made and sturdy. [jet]
