This bayonet was made for old muskets converted from flint to percussion in 1862. These conversions were done by Hewes & Phillips in Newark, New Jersey. Overall length is approximately 21” long with a 17 7/8” fluted blade that has a US stamped on the top face. The M1816 style socket is three inches long with a T-shaped mortise. There is no locking ring on this style. Bright finish. Excellent condition.   [jet]
