Standard issue Pattern 1855 socket bayonet and scabbard in good condition.
The leather of the scabbard is in very nice condition. There is much original finish still present and there is very little wear.
The frog is the seven rivet variety that shows a little more wear than the scabbard. The frog has a faint stamping that reads “WATERTOWN ARSENAL 1863” OR “1865.” The last number is difficult to see.
The bayonet itself is in excellent condition with a bright finish and a good “US” stamping on the blade. Locking ring works well. A good clean example. [ad]
