The blade is approx. 21.75 inches long with a slight upward curve near the point. The blade surface is bright with moderate mottling scattered over its surface. Blade has a central fuller approx. 15.25 inches long. Ricassos are unmarked. Edge has one small nick.

Cast brass grip has a ribbed surface with a guard that ends in a round quillon on both sides. Top portion of the guard has opening to accommodate the barrel when the bayonet is fixed. Bird head shaped pommel has a channel cut at top for attaching to the stud on the rifle. Locking mechanism operates well. Brass surface has a light patina and oxidation spots.

Bridle leather scabbard has a plain brass throat and drag. Throat has a brass keeper attached on one side while the drag has a ball decoration at bottom. The leather scabbard shows light wear and some minor surface finish loss but is strong. Rear seam is very good. An unreadable maker’s stamp is present on the reverse approx. 2.25 inches below the throat. Obverse has some tape or glue residue where a tag once was.  [ad]
