This is the leather scabbard for the M1868/69 US trowel bayonet. Scabbard only, no bayonet. This pattern has the extended belt loop attached by seven rivets. This frog is stitched to the trowel-shaped body. A wide brass scabbard tip is mounted on the end with two brass tacks. Stitching remains intact overall. Bridle leather finish shows wear and cracking and may have a coat of black shoe polish.
