Standard Model 1855 socket bayonet marked “C&CO” on the face of the socket.
Blade length is approx. 18.00 inches with moderate mottling throughout as well as very light scattered surface pitting. Good “US” stamp on the blade flat. Locking ring works perfectly.
Leather scabbard is the seven rivet variety. Frog shows signs of use but is solid. Scabbard is in nice shape with minor surface finish loss here and there. Finial has a nice dark patina and one moderate dent.
Collins & Company of Connecticut made bayonets for the Colt Special Model 1861 as well as the Sharps rifle. [ad]
