This is the Krag – Jorgensen bayonet used on the model 1892 Krag rifle.
Overall length of the bayonet is approx. 16.25 inches from point to pommel. The blade itself is approx. 11.75 inches long with a central fuller that is approx. 8.00 inches long. Ricasso is marked “US” on one side and “1898” on the other. The first digit in the year is worn. Blade surface has a dark patina with some bright spots peeking out from underneath. The edge is free of nicks. Overall, the blade is very nice.
The hilt has a bird head iron pommel and a flat iron guard with “o” ring. The wood grips are in excellent condition. Mortise and button attachment work well. Hilt is in overall nice condition.
