The bayonet is an excellent example with only very scattered spots of mottling. Locking ring works well. The blade flat is stamped “US” but the letter “U” is thin.
The scabbard is in very nice shape. It is a Pattern 1861 Type III with a buff frog with 8 rivets and a black bridle leather body with brass tip. The frog is lightly maker marked “----NEWARK N.J.” and a faint sub-inspectors stamp. The frog is in near perfect condition with a few minor scuffs and the body is also very good except.
