Standard .58 caliber Federal bayonet originally designed for the Model 1855 rifle musket. Also continued to be used with the .58 caliber models 1861 & 1863 muskets as well. Manufactured by the Springfield Armory and other known Federal contractors for the 1861 & 1863 rifle muskets.

Condition: Socket and shoulder exhibits a darkened grayish patina while the overall blade shows signs of having been cleaned at some period in its history. The blade measures 18” in length. Locking ring intact and in good working order. The both edges of the blade show some very minor dents or dings and a scattering of light pitting is located on the socket as well.

Above average condition Civil War period bayonet to complement your rifle.
